For most physicists this antropo-centric idea is unacceptable and the search for an objective description of the measurement goes on. There are many proposals but the history around these is generally that they live for some time until it is shown that they bring about more problems to the formalism than that they solve. Nonetheless one of these is formulated by Penrose in the framework of a model of Consciousness namely the collapse due to quantum gravity which holds that if more an more particles become involved in the superposition there is a point where the (time * the number of involved particles) the collapse occurs automatically. It wouldn’t surprise me if the fate of this proposal will be similar to the fate of previous proposal of objective reduction but that remains to be seen.
