Now we are ready to discuss the two quantum models of consciousness. And to see if and if so, how we can get an experimental handle on these models.

Let’s repeat the arguments that lead to Stapp’s dualistic model.
Basically Stappa follows von Neumann’s in the position that each device hasd to be described quantum mechanically and hence will also become in superposition. Although von Neumann shied away for the conclusion that therefore Consciousness must be non-physical, Stapp accepts this idea.

This idea is extremely unpopular among most scientist as it seems to be a return to Descartes’ dualism.
My own position in these discussions is to take each proposal serious and see if we can do some experiments that would support or not support these proposals.
